Nicollet Island Inn Wedding | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer
Ashley and Alex started their day off by getting ready with their closest family and friends. It’s always so fun to show up and see the dynamic of each couple’s relationship with their friends and family. My approach is to always blend in as much as possible and quietly documenting the day in an unassuming and unobtrusive manner. So I get to witness a lot of relationships without pretenses. And from the moment I showed up, I could immediately see the joy both Ashley and Alex are surrounded with. Zero drama. Zero stress. It was happy and peaceful at the same time.
Ashley and Alex opted to do a first look before the wedding due to having a little drive time between the church and their reception, so doing a first look allowed them to finish wedding party and family portraits before the ceremony. We followed the first look with a short walk on an unusually warm fall day around Saint Anthony Main for wedding portraits. This location is classic Minneapolis and it was so nice to be so close.
Their traditional church service was beautiful and followed with a cheering crowd greeting Ashley and Alex as the descended the church front steps. I love when these old traditions intersect with modern weddings and I wish more couples would take advantage of their church steps this way. It’s such a joyful moment to have all your people cheering you on as you make those first steps into marriage. And hello, organic photo op that is totally authentic and full of energy.
Their reception took place at the Nicollet Island Inn just across the river from downtown Minneapolis.
I hope you enjoy taking a look inside this special Minneapolis Wedding gallery. And as always, if you’re getting married in Minneapolis, or anywhere else for that matter, and are looking for a documentary style wedding photographer, I’m it. Reach out!
